Cutting Red Tape

The Territory Government’s new streamlined quote-and-tender process means more business and less paperwork for Territory companies. Under the revised thresholds, around 40% of government contracts – those under $200 000 – will require quotes only. Requirements over $200,000 will go to public tender.

Government Contracts Important Changes effective 30 March 2009

An increase to all procurement thresholds

Tiers	Value	Requirements
Tier 1	Less than $15 000	Single written quotation
Tier 2	$15 000 but less than $50 000	Minimum three written quotations
Tier 3	$50 000 but less than $200 000	Public Quotation available on Quotations and Tenders Online
Tier 4	$200 000 but less than $5 million	Public Tender
Tier 5	$5 million and greater	Public Tender

Our commitment to freeing up the system will get projects up and running sooner, allowing the Territory to take full advantage of the Australian Government’s economic stimulus package.
