The Construction Division of the Department of Planning and Infrastructure provides project management services for the design, procurement and supervision of the Territory Government’s infrastructure program. The Division is tasked with delivering a record program made up of capital works, minor new works, and repairs and maintenance projects from all regions.
The construction snapshot provides an overview of the level of construction investment underway and planned across the Northern Territory, including the Territory Government’s infrastructure program.
An unprecedented $1.3 billion infrastructure program was budgeted in 2009–10 to protect Territory jobs against the global recession and further build the Territory.
Budget 2010–11 will build on the record infrastructure investment, ensuring that the infrastructure needed to grow the Territory properly is provided.
A total of 24 projects with an estimated value of $198.8 million were completed in the Territory from June to September 2009. The Territory Government completed 13 of the 24 projects, with an estimated value of $30.8 million.
A futher 24 new projects with an estimated value of $177.5 million have commenced since the June quarter publication. The Territory Government commenced 16 of the 24 new projects with an estimated value of $64.5 million.
