As an integral part of the six-part Working Future plan, our 20 largest remote communities will be developed into strong towns boasting services and amenities like any other similar-sized towns elsewhere in Australia. Properly planned and designed, these towns will become the economic and service delivery centres for their regions.
People from the surrounding region will access schools, police stations, courts, health services, aged care and disability facilities, the Internet and good transport options in their regional town. People will travel to town from outstations and homelands and other towns to go to work, go to school, shop, see friends, see a doctor.
In order to have services like any other country town, Territory Growth Towns will need proper infrastructure – including water, sewerage, electricity and community facilities.
Our towns will have decent roads that help people to get to work and school. They will also have good internet access that will attract new businesses and connect our remote towns to anywhere in the world
